9 I love your message. Don't let anyone tell you you can't do it!

I also appreciated your voice and arm movement, though even more vocal variety might improve it a little.
Generally, it was really good. However, I would make your foot movement slightly more deliberate, based on the speech itself, so that every step has an impact. Nov 25, 2010

9 Great use of body language and humor. I also like that while you "speak to inform", you are clearly influencing us by encouraging us to act. The right knowledge to the right people is influential.

Moreover, citing a study lends you credibility, so good job there too.

8 I love your humour, especially since it is topical.

Good eye contact and hand gestures, too.
Careful not to rely on notes. I suggest spending a little time mentally connecting the major ideas of the speech while practicing. Aug 22, 2010

8 I agree! Inspiration is not always as easy as hearing a speech!

You have clearly practiced a lot. Very deliberate and relevant foot and hand movements.
Not much room for improvement, though you might consider smiling and moving your feet a bit more.

What is your passion? You could put that in somewhere as a transition.

9 I like your friendly, smiling way of speaking.

Your hand and body movements seem appropriate and descriptive. They add to the meaning and the energy of your speech.
You seem a little nervous but a little more preparation and practice would reduce that.

Also, a little more vocal variety would go great with a story like this, and with your motions and movements.

9 Great vocal variety and clear speaking. Good eye contact. Plus it was funny! More preparation of your script, or even better of your basic points only, would make your speaking smoother.

You were also looking for feedback on smooth body language. It seemed a little jumpy. I suggest reducing the number of gestures and movements and making the ones you do more deliberate.

8 Good human nature perspective to show what the problem is. The system you talk about is great and I have tried to use it before, and you explain it well. I wonder if the audience could follow everything without visuals. Visuals might be really useful in a speech like this. But your hand gestures contributed a bit to the visuals. May 9, 2010

8 Your point was very clear and well made. I was wondering recently about the video games badge and this speech clarified how it can be a good scout badge.

I like your informal style, your clear voice, vocal variety and hand movements.
Sorry if you know this already, but I suggest avoiding using notes as much as possible. It is a bit distracting. But you nonetheless minimised the extent to which they were distracting by looking at your audience often and referring to visuals. May 9, 2010

9 I love your voice. It added a lot to the power of the speech. I could really feel like I was there cheering for you, and then being disappointed for you. Nothing really to improve on--maybe your foot movement could be a little more controlled and purposeful; maybe your hand movements could be a little more deliberate too; but they may be fine already. 9 Very forceful speech, which I love. Good use of outside experts, research and history. Careful about looking to the ground and the side. I suggest keeping your eyes on your audience. It shows you are communicating with them, that the message is for them, and forces them to stay with you the whole time. May 9, 2010

7 I like your style of storytelling. You are calm, not too formal. Good way to explain why you are using notes. Very interesting story. Not sure why you said "Mr Toastmaster, fellow TMs" and so on in the middle of the speech. I think it sounds better nearer the start, within the first minute. May 9, 2010

9 You sure this was your icebreaker? You are already a pro! Great energy, storytelling, body movements and gestures, although it was funny the way you described the woman you saw (your wife's) hair!

I also liked things like "seven magic words" because I could guess the words. Good wording and pause after it.
Your feet moved a little too much. Try not to move around all the time. I always do the same thing. The idea might be, every time you transition to a new paragraph, as it were, take two steps to one side, then when you get to the next part take two more steps in the other direction. May 9, 2010

I think you could do that even more as you vary the emotion and energy of your message. You generally choose your words really well. Just try to get rid of the "ok"s. Feb 8, 2010

Not sure why you had a script. Seemed like unnecessary notes.

9 I loved it! Interesting, great vocal variety, great message. You are clearly an experienced speaker so you probably already know from watching yourself what room you have for improvement.

I noticed you put your hands in your pocket once, and you might be more careful not to point too much. Otherwise, well done!
